Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

This smoothie offers the perfect hint of chocolate and cherries to provide a great afternoon pick-me-up treat. It's like having dessert for lunch, but it's healthy. It doesn't get better than that, folks!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1/2 cup cherries frozen, pitted
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 ounce shredded coconut unsweetened
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao nibs you can substitute the nibs for cacao powder

Instructions

  • Place almond milk, cherries, banana, shredded coconut, raw cacao nibs into a blend. Blend until smooth.
  • Add chia seeds and blend for 2-3 seconds.
  • Garnish with a few cacao nibs. Enjoy!

Notes

I prefer to the add chia seeds towards the end. You can pulse 2-3 times or run the blend for about 3 seconds. Chia seeds contain a lot of fiber which will make your smoothie thick so I prefer to keep them somewhat in tact so the smoothie does not thicken too much.
Cacao powder provides a stronger chocolate flavor than the nibs but the nibs provide a richer flavor. Try them both and see which you prefer. I like to top my smoothie with a few nibs to give it little crunch.
To decrease the amount of calories you can use water or herbal tea in place of almond milk and omit the shredded coconut.
